Early Life and Career:

Gibson was born in Peekskill, New York, on January 3, 1956. He is the sixth of 11 children born to Irish parents, Hutton Gibson, a railway worker, and Anne Patricia (née Reilly),a singer. Gibson's family moved to Australia when he was 12 years old. He attended the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney, where he honed his acting skills.

Gibson's early film roles included the Mad Max franchise (1979-1985),which catapulted him to international fame. He went on to star in a wide range of films, including Lethal Weapon (1987-1998),Braveheart (1995),The Patriot (2000),and Signs (2002).

His directorial debut, The Man Without a Face (1993),was a critical and commercial success. Gibson is a devout Catholic and has been open about his religious beliefs. In 2004, he released The Passion of the Christ, a controversial film about the final hours of Jesus Christ's life. The film sparked debates about religious extremism and anti-Semitism.
