Drawing on his own experiences as a white, working-class male, Bageant argues that the patriarchy is a system that oppresses both men and women. He shows how traditional gender roles can lead to violence, addiction, and mental illness in men. He also explores the ways in which white privilege benefits men, even those who are struggling financially.

Bageant's writing is honest, raw, and often funny. He doesn't shy away from the difficult truths about manhood, but he also offers hope for a better future. He believes that men can break free from the constraints of the patriarchy and create a more just and equitable world.

Patriarchy Blues is a must-read for anyone who wants to understand the complexities of manhood in the 21st century. It is a powerful and timely book that will challenge your assumptions about gender and inspire you to create a better world.
